Australian Professional Wrestler, Toni Storm, debuted tonight during the All Elite Wrestling Dynamite episode. Storm was the surprise entrant to face ‘The Bunny’ in the opening match of the Owen Hart Classic Tournament and went on to win. Fans may remember the 26-year-old from her most recent work in NXT UK and the Smackdown brand of the company. Storm made her WWE debut during the Mae Young Classic tournament.
Storm brings an international fan base to AEW from her time in the UK from, her time with Progress, and her time in Japan performing for the Stardom brand. She rose to popularity and became the first non-Japanese wrestler ever to hold the title. In 2017, Storm would become the first wrestler to win two tournaments in the same year.
Storm will bring a different style and toughness that many fans may not be used to seeing. She may be young, but the 13-year veteran has experience in the business to also give back to less experienced talent in many ways. AEW owner, Tony Khan, has made very precise decisions in what talent he is bringing in. This is yet another example of a great hire for the longevity of All Elite Wrestling.
Storm will be a threat to an already crowded women’s locker room. With new women’s champion Thunder Rosa just starting her run, it will be interesting to see how long it goes. Storm will be competing for the title soon, I feel.
