The Carson Wentz of old was nowhere to be found this past Sunday. Wentz played the worst game of his NFL career getting sacked a career high 9 times. He also coughed up the ball 2 times only recovering it once. Jalen Hurts continued to play at an MVP level putting 3 TDs for 340 yards. The only bright spot of the Commanders was Antonio Gibson scoring a rushing touchdown. Eagles Wideouts Devonta Smith, A.J Brown, Dallas Goedert each caught a touchdown.
Wentz was not available for a comment after the game. Commanders Head Coach Ron Rivera was quoted as saying “I’m not worried about Carson. Carson’s going to bounce back” in his NBC interview. The Eagles defense put together their best performance so far this season notching 9 sacks,17 QB hits & 8 tackles for loss.
The Commanders will look to bounce back this week as they head down to Dallas to face the Cowboys in Week 4. There will be no NFC East reunion for Wentz & his adversary Dak Prescott as backup Cooper Rush is still slated to start this week. Currently at the bottom of the NFC East this is a must win for the Commanders. The Cowboys lead in the head-to-head series 75-47.
