Gamecocks in the trenches

The Gamecock coaching staff has made a concerted effort to put added emphasis on recruiting both the offensive and defensive lines. 

In our last article we detailed the recent commitments on the offensive side of the ball. This time, the Gamecocks focus has been on the defensive side of the ball. The Gamecocks have recently landed commitments from 4 star defensive lineman Monteque Rhames, Xzavier McLeod and Zavion Hardy. The coaching staff doesn’t appear to be finished adding to this side of the ball as they still have outstanding targets of Nyckoles Harbor and Desmond Umeozulu for the 2023 class. 

Currently the Gamecocks are ranked 16th in the nation at On3 and 17th in the 24/7 rankings. The energy and momentum is hot for the Gamecocks and that will only continue if they land these outstanding targets. Beamer and his staff have been hard at work to blaze new paths on the recruiting trail, and it appears their hard work is paying off as they are definitely a team to watch with several highly ranked players in the class of 2023.
