Gamecocks Going Bowling!

Sponsored by Extreme Property Services

Another Saturday night in Williams-Brice and another hard-fought victory for the South Carolina Gamecocks.

This game meant a little more to the South Carolina football team as the opposing offensive coordinator and offensive line coach were once a part of Coach Beamer’s initial staff. While Coach Beamer wished Mike Bobo well upon his departure, you could tell there was no love lost between the two men.

The Gamecocks came out and fought hard for the victory on all sides of the football, but it must be the way the game ended that was the icing on top for this football team. The Beamer ball “brand” if you will, is founded upon strong special teams play. The fourth down punt appeared to have barely grazed the knee of the Auburn punt returner, although some camera angles tended to make it look like that was a stretch. Either way, it was another special teams play that bounced the right way for the Gamecocks.

Coach Beamer was clearly emotional after the Gamecocks 6th win locked them into a bowl game for the first time since 2018. Many pundits predicted this South Carolina team would win 4-5 games this year. Not only did they win six, but they also won multiple games they should not have won against much more talented teams. The Gamecocks play with heart and fight until the end and that heart has been seen numerous times this season.

It will be interesting to see which bowl game the Gamecocks will be selected to play in. One interesting prediction by Brad Edwards at 24/7 Sports has the Gamecocks playing North Carolina in Charlotte at the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. That would be an interesting matchup and would certainly invite a lot of fans from the surrounding area.

The Gamecocks look to continue their winning ways this week against arch-rival Clemson at home on Saturday.
