TIAA AND SIAC PARTNER ON ADVANCING AWARENESS OF RETIREMENT INVESTING GENDER EQUITY DISPARITIES

ATLANTA, Ga. (February, 25 2022) – TIAA and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (“SIAC”) are proud to announce a fully integrated partnership to address the gender retirement gap. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Title IX, the initiative will focus on leveraging SIAC platforms to address gender equality. TIAA will also serve as the official title sponsor of the 2022 SIAC Basketball Tournament in Rock Hill, SC, slated to begin February 28th.

“We’re proud to celebrate the progress that has been made over the last 50 years for women in sports,” said Stephen Tisdalle, Chief Brand and Demand Generation Officer at TIAA. “But, we know there’s still a long way to go for gender equality, especially in pay and retirement. TIAA is committed to working with SIAC clients and institutions to raise awareness of this issue and help close the gender gap.”

“The data with regard to the relative retirement investment and savings disparity between women and men is sobering and concerning,” stated SIAC Commissioner Gregory Moore. “The SIAC is eager to partner with TIAA and not only highlight this gender gap, but also collaborate to help raise awareness of this disparity by specifically targeting young women with respect to the importance of retirement planning.”

The partnership provides TIAA the opportunity to share information that addresses the gender retirement gap through corporate messaging and a special ceremony during the women’s basketball tournament championship on March 5th. TIAA will also work together to activate throughout the month of March to celebrate Women’s History Month by highlighting women student-athletes and administrators for their achievements and contributions to SIAC institutions and their communities.
